What is the
Discovery Phase?

The Discovery Phase is where we explore your business, users, and goals before writing any code. It's all about uncovering the right problems to solve and shaping a clear, thoughtful plan that guides design and development.

We believe great software starts with asking the right questions — not jumping straight to features. This phase sets the foundation for everything that follows.

Discovery sticky notes

How we do it

01
Kickoff & research

We start by interviewing stakeholders, researching users, and analyzing your market.

02
Define & document

Through workshops, user flows, and specs, we define what the product must do and how it should behave.

03
Prototype & validate

We build wireframes and a clickable prototype. Then we test it with real users and improve it.

04
Prepare for development

Once everything is validated, we create a design system, finalize UI, and write test cases to ensure quality later.

Discovery background

Why it matters

Most clients come to us because they want to solve a business problem — not just to build a list of features. The ideas and specifications they bring are often just a starting point — a hypothesis.

'In the Discovery phase, we help validate those ideas.'

We look deeper to understand the real goals behind your project and what your software actually needs to achieve them. It's how we make sure we're solving the right problems in the right way — not just building what's been requested.

This approach gives everyone clarity, reduces risk, and builds trust between your team and ours from the start.

What's included in the Discovery phase

Test case

Structured testing plans created early to ensure smooth and reliable development. Sets the foundation for a high-quality product.

Stakeholder Interviews

Conversations with key decision-makers to understand business goals, vision, challenges and expectations. This helps align the product direction with real business objectives.

Business process analysis

A review of current workflows and systems to understand how the business operates and where improvements can make processes more efficient and scalable.

User research

Studying real users to uncover their needs, preferences and behaviors. Often done through interviews, surveys or direct observation to ensure user-centered design.

Market & competitor analysis

Reviewing competitors and market trends to discover opportunities, avoid common mistakes and define your unique positioning.

Requirement workshops

Collaborative sessions with the client to define clear goals, features, user roles and expectations, creating alignment early on.

User journey

A visual map showing the steps a user takes to accomplish tasks within the product, helping align design with real-world usage.

User flow diagrams

Visual pathways of how users move through the system. These guide the design and development of logical, user-friendly navigation.

Functional specification

A clear, detailed document outlining how the system works—including inputs, outputs, behaviors and rules.

User stories

Simple, structured descriptions of product features from the user's point of view. They help developers understand the "why" behind each feature.

High-fidelity wireframes

Detailed screen layouts (usually in grayscale) that outline the structure of pages, features and user flows—before the final design is applied.

Design System

Reusable components for a consistent visual language.

User interface (UI) design

The finalized visual design of your digital product that users will interact with. Focuses on both beauty and usability.

Interactive prototype

A clickable model of your product that simulates user experience before development begins. Great for early feedback and alignment.

Usability testing

Testing the prototype with real users to discover what works well and what could be improved. Includes an insights report to guide refinement.
